fiona unsworth

Fiona Unsworth graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art Dundee in 1969 with a Diploma of Art in printed textiles and embroidery as her second subject and taught for several years.

In 1989 she returned to study as a part- time student at Telford College Edinburgh where she qualified in City and Guilds Embroidery and Design parts 1&2 (with distinction). Commissions include a wall-hanging for the Royal Bank of Scotland, South Gyle, and her work is also privately owned.

Fiona's work is inspired both by the environment and the culture and patterns of places she has visited. She likes to work using a variety of techniques and media which allows her to experiment with textural effects. Richly worked surfaces using both machine and hand embroidery excite her.
