gail grant

Gail's textile work has evolved through metal sculpture, working in 3d and collage. She has attended many Modules in the Edinburgh Art School summer school.

Working in mixed media, she uses a pallet of rich colours, manipulating and encrusting the fabrics and embellishing with metallic threads, beads and stitches. She is interested in the providence of the materials and produces the fibres from her own Alpaca and Hebridean sheep fleeces and feathers from her own collection of birds which she uses in her work.

With a love of textures, printing and pattern, Gail pursues the potential relationship in textiles between structure and colour to evoke a spirit inspired by nature.
